Our Over 60’s lost a close contest with Manchester Corinthians one-nil at Heywood in The WFA Cup.

We went a goal down early on and didn’t quite get the equaliser which their second performance deserved.

Took us a while to settle, their keeper made a few good saves but it was hard to create clear cut chances as they were very well organised, even when they had a player sin binned for 2 minutes late on!

A mention to the excellent referee Garry Pearce who controlled the game in admirable fashion for both clubs.

Corinthians manager Bill commented,

“Wigan were a very strong team who played some excellent walking football and if the scoreline had been reversed we would have had no complaints.

If we meet a team in the finals as good then I will be very surprised.”

So our only hope of success in “The Nationals” now rest’s with the Over 50’s who play away to Blackburn Rovers on Friday 31st Aug.
