At the beginning of the month, the 6th September to be precise we held our inaugural “Over 70’s” tournament but allowing Youth team goalkeepers (Over 60) In saying that one of our visiting keepers was 72 and he finished on the winning side after a dramatic penalty shoot out. ALL the matches were played in
Wigan Walkers took part in another one day Cup Competition at Prescot and after a shaky start came away with the rather handsome trophy. A very enjoyable day ensued in Prescot , thanks to all the players plus John and Tommy for the support and managing the team. There were 8 teams involved, so 2 groups
All three of our team’s are now sadly out of the WFA’s National Tournament, last team standing so to speak was our Over 50’s who narrowly lost away at Blackburn 3-2 after extra time. Report from team manager Gary Wilkins : A gut wrenching last 5 minutes saw us lose a 2-1 lead and go

Open to women of all ages and abilities, women retired through injury or women who have never kicked a ball before!!!! Our Over 60’s lost a close contest with Manchester Corinthians one-nil at Heywood in The WFA Cup. We went a goal down early on and didn’t quite get the equaliser which their second performance deserved. Took us a while to settle, their keeper made a few good saves but it was hard to create clear
Much laughter and mirth in the rain as a high scoring game of 7-a-side was played on the outdoor pitch at The Wigan Walkingdome. Sodden skies didn’t deter our hardy band of players. Good turnout this morning with both keepers excelling in the difficult conditions.
