Our squad manged by Gary Wilkins turned in an excellent performance in the inaugural Prescot over 55’s tournament on June 12th.

We were unbeaten in our 8 games, winning 5 and drawing three to pip Prescot by one point in a close finish.

Normally slow starters in comps we went ahead in the 1st minute of our opening game and won 1-0.This was a common score in a tournament of few goals, this was down to the small goals and oversized penalty areas meaning space was at a premium.

The next game was also 1-0,followed by three draws, conceding a last minute equaliser to Crosby which could have cost us dearly, then a 2-0 win over Prescot over 70’s followed this, it could have been about 8 but for their goalkeeper was simply outstanding.

We met Crosby in a vital game needing to win this to be in with a chance of the title, in a game of few chances we duly did this in another 1-0 victory with Gary getting the goal .

Last game we put Widnes under the cosh from the start of the game,a combination of hitting the post, quality saves and poor finishing almost letting us down before Frank scored the winning goal with just 3 minutes remaining.

Prescot could only draw their last game 0-0 after having had 3 goals disallowed for running.

A fine all round team performance, conceding only 1 goal goal in 8 games.

Winners with what they could have won !
