The dates for Wigan Walkers return to the Algarve for the Albufeira Cup 2018 have been confirmed as Saturday 17th March to Wednesday 21st march.

This year’s trip was a huge success both on and off the field. We sent 9 players (two took their wives) plus John Wright’s bag-man – Alan ‘you had one job to do’ Rigby – enough said!

On the footballing side, we reached the final of the tournament only to be controversially beaten on penalties. On the social side, a great time was had by all and, without breaking the ‘what happens in the Algarve stays in the Algarve’ pledge, I can say that we have a few hidden Karaoke talents, or at least they appear talented after several pints.

Some of you have already asked about bring partners/wives. All I can say is that the ladies that went this year were first to put their names on the list for next year and at least a couple more players have already said they are bringing their wives next year. We also already have a few players whose wives can’t come next year, so it’s likely to be a good mix.

The cost (without flights) will be approximately £200 per person, depending upon the hotel we stay at. All hotels are excellent and the price includes 4 nights including breakfast, private transfers on arrival and departure, entry to the walking football tournament with transport to & from the pitches from the hotel. We will also have the benefit of local assistance in the resort.

The cost of the flights will obviously depend on the rate at the time of booking. This year, they were approximately £54 return.
